What Is
YeS-TR?
Turkey’s National Green Certificate System is a national scheme that evaluates and certifies sustainable, energy-efficient and nature-compatible buildings throughout their entire life cycle, from site selection to demolition.

A national green
certificate.
Carrying out work on combating climate change and the green circular-economy model, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change aims to certify buildings that are nature-compatible, evaluated across their life cycle from site selection to demolition, suited to local climate data, and that consume only as much energy and water as they need.
YeS-TR shares a similar structure with the internationally known LEED (USA), BREEAM (United Kingdom), DGNB (Germany), CASBEE (Japan), GREENSTAR (Australia) green certificate systems.
Applications can only be made through Green Certificate Experts (YESU) authorised by the Ministry. Buildings and settlements holding a Green Certificate stand out as prestigious structures with high brand value.

Core modules,
criteria & credits.
Green Certificate grades are determined by the total weighted credits earned. Each module can yield a maximum of 100 credits; the credits earned are multiplied by weighting coefficients to form the overall grade.

Turkish Environment Agency
The certification system for reducing the negative environmental impact of buildings and settlements by using natural resources and energy efficiently is defined by the "Green Certificate Regulation for Buildings and Settlements".
The Turkish Environment Agency reviews certificate applications under this regulation, evaluates the sustainable environmental, social and economic performance of buildings and settlements, and issues the relevant certificate to those that meet the criteria.
Green Certificate Expert (YESU) Project Steps
- Providing consultancy during the planning, design and construction processes according to the criteria set out in the building’s evaluation guide.
- Submitting the building’s information and documents to the evaluation body.
- Following up the work and procedures related to the application on behalf of the building owner.
- Ensuring the provision of the information and documents to be submitted to the evaluation body.
4 stages,
increasing value.
Once all mandatory criteria are met, the certificate is graded in 4 stages according to the weighted credit amount. Modules and weighting coefficients differ for new buildings and existing buildings.
PASS
All mandatory criteria + the required credits from the BBT, YMD, İOK, EKV and SAY modules.
GOOD
All mandatory criteria + the required credits from the BBT, YMD, İOK, EKV and SAY modules.
VERY GOOD
All mandatory criteria + the required credits from the BBT, YMD, İOK, EKV and SAY modules.
NATIONAL EXCELLENCE
All mandatory criteria + the required credits from the BBT, YMD, İOK, EKV and SAY modules.
* The table uses the same stage structure for both New Buildings and Existing Buildings. The weighting coefficients of the modules vary by building type.
How is a Green
Certificate obtained?
The five main steps from application to certification. At each step the relevant evidence documents are prepared and evaluated.
Application & Consultancy
The application process is started with an authorised Green Certificate Expert (YESU); consultancy services are received for the building.
Document Preparation
All evidence documents for the building or settlement are prepared according to the evaluation guide criteria.
Evaluation
The evidence documents are reviewed and scored against the criteria by a Green Certificate Evaluation Expert (YESDU).
Crediting
The credits earned from the modules are multiplied by weighting coefficients; the total weighted credit amount is calculated.
Certification
The Turkish Environment Agency issues a Green Certificate to the building / settlement that meets the criteria.
